San Francisco Cross Country Programs Recognized For Academic Excellence
Both the men’s and women’s San Francisco cross country teams earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the organization.

Dons All-American Laura Suur Named USTFCAA All-Academic Women's Cross Country Team
San Francisco Cross Country All-American Laura Suur was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for women's cross country as announced today by the organization. The junior from Jegova, Estonia was one of 104 women's cross country student-athletes across the nation to be named to the team.

San Francisco Women's Cross Country Earns WCC REPRESENT Team Award
USF women’s cross country received yet another accolade in a season full of them today when the West Coast Conference released its Fall Team Sportsmanship Award winners. The three-time defending WCC Champions were selected as the top women’s cross country program in the conference in demonstrating positive sportsmanship principles and standards.

Laura Suur Finishes 11th at 2011 SPAR European Cross Country Championship
San Francisco’s Laura Suur represented her native Estonia in the 2011 SPAR European Championships Sunday and posted an 11th place finish in the 6K event with a time of 20:28. The Dons All-American was competing in the race for the second time and improved upon a 27th place showing in 2010.

The three-time WCC Champion Dons’ record-breaking season came to a successful close Monday as the team finished 25th at the NCAA Division I National Championships in cold, rainy Terre Haute, Indiana.

The USF Women’s Cross Country team will race in the NCAA Division I National Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana Monday, making it the first West Coast Conference women’s team to advance past the NCAA West Regional.

San Francisco Women’s Cross Country Qualifies for NCAA Nationals
The University of San Francisco Dons Women’s Cross Country team earned an at-large bid and will compete in the NCAA Division I National Championships on November 21. This is the first Dons team to qualify for Nationals on the women’s or men’s side.

San Francisco Turns In Strong Performance at NCAA West Regionals
The University of San Francisco men’s and women’s cross country teams took their second highest and highest finishes in school history at the 2011 NCAA West Regional at Stanford. The men were 15th and the women sixth in arguably the toughest region in the country.

San Francisco Cross Country Set For 2011 NCAA West Regionals
Both the No. 27 Dons women’s team and the men’s cross country team head down the peninsula to race in the NCAA Division I West Regional Finals at the Stanford Golf Course on Saturday, November 12. The women’s team will be looking to make enough noise in the meet to win an at-large bid to the NCAA Nationals later this month, while the men are looking to improve on their 14-seed (their highest ranking this season).

San Francisco Cross Country Runners Rank High In the Classroom and On the Course
Proving they shine both in the classroom and on the course, Dons seniors Jeremy Grace and Will Marquardt were named to the West Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country All-Academic team, along with junior Sahar Bala on the women’s side. Gustavo Mena, Jason Waldram, Alice Baker, Sophie Curl, Hayley Niles, Sarah Pearson, and Mary Sandri earned Honorable Mention recognition, as released by the league office this week.

Helen Lehman-Winters Wins WCC Coach of the Year; Five Dons Named All-Conference
The accolades keep rolling in for the three-time defending West Coast Conference Champion, No. 29 San Francisco women’s cross country team. The team’s top-four finishers at Saturday’s WCC Championships – Laura Suur, Sophie Curl, Chloe Treleven and Maor Tiyouri – earned spots on the All-WCC team, while Alice Baker earned Honorable Mention. Head coach Helen Lehman-Winters won WCC Women’s Coach of the Year honors for the third consecutive year and fourth time in nine seasons at USF.

The USF women’s cross country team is ranked No. 29 in this week’s United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I national rankings. The Dons retained their No. 6 spot in the West Region after last week’s impressive showing at the prestigious Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.

San Francisco Women Win Santa Clara Bronco Invitational; Men Seventh
The Dons women’s cross country B-team won their second consecutive race at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational Saturday, while the men’s team finished seventh out of 18, with a blistering average time of 24:52 over the 5-mile (8K) course on a sunny, warm day in the South Bay.

San Francisco Women Win San Francisco State Gator Invitational
The USF women’s cross country team turned in a dominant performance in winning the San Francisco State Invitational Friday in Golden Gate Park. Five Dons scored among the top 12 finishers, and all seven placed in the top 18. The men’s team struggled in the defense of its 2010 title, placing fifth.

Dons Cross Country to Compete in San Francisco State Gator Invitational
For the first time in several years, USF will be sending both a complete men’s and women’s team to race in Friday’s 24th annual San Francisco State Cross Country Invitational. The women’s team will race the 6K course at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park at 2:30 Friday afternoon, while the men’s team will defend their 2010 title on the 8K course starting at 3:15.

Dons Present Annual Awards At Scholar-Athlete Luncheon
Wednesday, the University of San Francisco athletic department celebrated it’s annual Scholar-Athlete luncheon. At the event, USF honored 145 student-athletes for the achievements both in the classroom and on the playing field. Among those honored, the Dons handed out 11 annual awards to student-athletes from a handful of programs.
